Progressives are constantly on the accusatory trail, proclaiming this or that about Republicans. One of those complaints is concerning how Republicans are “bought and sold” with the money of their donors. To a degree this is certainly true but it holds true for all politicians regardless of party.
For example, what reasonable individual could ever deny that when it comes to immigration the Republican establishment in Washington has a gold ring in its nose and is being led about by at least the Chamber of Commerce?
But naturally, since Progressives haven’t an agenda that can be persuasively argued, it doesn’t matter who the Republican is that individual is “mean”, “evil”, “greedy”, and out to kill your grandmother via stealing her Social Security and Medicare checks so she starves to death.
Except now, the Washington Post has stumbled upon a contradiction to that claim in the form of Donald J. Trump, arguably the last individual WaPo would ever wish to give succor and comfort:
These NFL owners gave Trump millions. But when he attacked their sport, they hit back.
Of all the National Football League franchise owners, Bob McNair is probably one of President Trump’s most generous donors.
The Houston Texans owner donated $2 million in 2016 to a pro-Trump super PAC. He is also among the eight NFL team owners who collectively doled out millions of dollars for Trump’s inauguration, helping the New York billionaire raise an unprecedented $107 million in inaugural contributions.
Now, McNair has joined a chorus of NFL owners in calling out the president for deriding players who protest during the national anthem. Trump used profane language when he disparaged protesting players during a political rally on Friday in Alabama. He doubled down on his verbal attacks over the weekend, calling on NFL owners to fire or suspend players who protest, encouraging fans to boycott games and claiming that attendance and ratings are “WAY DOWN.”
When was the last time you heard the Republican Washington establishment class criticize the Chamber of Commerce?
When was the last time you heard Nancy Pelosi or Chuck Schumer criticize Antifa?
